The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum

Pre-moisturiser treatment for continuous enhance moisturisation and protection for all skin types.

I am always on the hunt for good skin products, especially ones within a small price rage. I was browsing through The Body Shop website when they was having 50% off and found this serum that jumped out at me with its fabulous reviews and couldn't help myself but add it to my basket.
With it being RRP at £12.00 I was a bit sceptical to see what all the fuss was about.

My first application of this serum won me over straight away! The product itself is so light which sinks into the skin instantly with the warmth of your fingertips. With the product being packed with vitamin Es your skin is fully protected day and night with each application and are left feeling refreshed with beautiful smooth skin after the smallest pump of product.

I have been using this throughout the cold weather and its really helped me fight the dryness of my face, especially as I always have problems with dry patches in the cold weather.

I absolutely love this serum and works well as a base for my moisturiser. It just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune on a product to give you the results you are after. I feel like I got myself a real bargain with this and will continue to purchase this knowing its money well spent.

Benefit Instant Comeback Facial Serum

Hey tired, dehydrated skin... this is your chance to start over!

Instant Comeback Age-defying Booster Serum instantly boosts the youthful look of skin. Tired skin looks plumped and hydra and feels firmer, smoother.. energized.

Benefit is one of the brands I get excited about when I see offers, free samples and new products. When I saw Benefit offering out free samples of the Instant Comeback Facial Serum I instantly clicked the button at the speed of lightning. I have always wanted a facial serum but was really struggling to find one that was worth the money and purchase.
This one states to instantly boosts the youthful look of skin, hydrated it and be the serum for all skin types, so I was excited to see if it was as amazing as it sounded.

It comes in the most cutest vintage looking bottle to open to a lovely fragranced serum. Its such a light cream that skins in to the skin instantly and leaves the skin smooth and looking great.
Each time I have worn this, I have noticed great results with my overall make up. Make up seems to look much better at the end of the day and skin looks 100% better than the normal days without the serum applied.

This can be applied day or night once the face has been freshly cleansed but I have only tested during daytime.
With my eyes surrounded in dark circles I was hoping it would brighten my face up to hide the tired eyes. This certainty brightened my face giving it a more awake finish which hid the fact I had dark circles.  As I stated earlier,  make up seemed to have a better finish with the applied before meaning even the eye make made dark circles seem none existent.

I am so so pleased with this product and it being £36.00 for a 30.0ML bottle I would highly recommend it! I will 100% be buying this product and welcome it to my skin care routine.

Have you tried the Benefit Instant Comeback Facial?

July's Birchbox.

July's Birchbox is a Sun, Sea and Sand theme to celebrate the beautiful weather we are having right now. Nothing makes you feel better than a beautiful day to wake up to and a Birchbox filled with goodies!

In this months box I received:

MODELS OWN Nail Polish £5
Stay on trend down to the tips of your toes with these gorgeous hard wearing nail polishes.
This nail varnish looks amazing! Filled with pink, silver, black and a shimmer of blue and green when it hits the light. Definitely a statement to the mails! I cannot wait to try this out.

BALANCE ME Wonder Eye Cream £20
A light hardworking formula to brighten the eye area and keep wrinkles at bay.
I have heard mixed reviews on this so eager to try it out and see which side I favor.  I love the fact it is 99% natural as I have just recently purchased the Yesto Carrots Moisturising Eye Cream which was also full with natural ingredients, however as I said in my recent post I wasn't noticing much improvement to my dark circles which it stated it would brighten. Hopefully this product will bring some hope to the natural eye creams!

LAQA & CO. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil In Menatour £14
A high gloss pencil to add a pop of sheer, nourishing and wearable colour.
I was a bit on the side with my first glimpse at this lip pencil. You may or may not no that I am not a huge lipstick fan and like to keep it quite nude unless its a night out. This is such a beautiful colour, (a pinkish but more purple) but am I brave enough to wear it?

BENEFIT The Porefessional £24.50
An award winning primer that magically erases pores and leaves skin velvety.
This is the winner of the box for me! I am so excited to see a primer in the box, let alone the Benefit one! I am just about to test out the M.A.C Prep and Prime Primer so it will be interesting to see which one wins it for me!

WHISH Three Whishes Lavender Body Butter £14.50
Not your granny's lavender - this sweet scented antioxidant rich lotion nourishes skin.
To be completely honest with you, I am not excited with this product as its not something I really use on an everyday basis and It's not really a brand I have heard of. I will give it a try as lavender is one of my favourite scents and my skin needs a bit of love.

FILOSOFILLE 4 - Sided Nail Buffer
Your at home DIY manicure made easy.
Is it just me or does everyone lose their nail files? This couldn't come at a better time as I am currently growing my nails out and most of them has just chipped! Me being me, has lost my nail vile. I like the look of this nail file as like it said, its a home DIY manicure, or the perfect size for your bag and traveling!

Yesto Skincare.

My skin care products have all been well and truly loved and are now all used up so I've had to go purchase more. How much I loved my Liz Earle Moisturiser, It was near the end of the month and had hardly any pennies left, so had a budget. I went into boots about a week ago with an open mind looking for new products to scream out at me. I saw this brand and was instantly drawn to the packaging and the stamp on the product which stated they include 95% natural ingredients!

I purchased the Yesto Grapefruit Correct & Repair Brightening Facial Wipes as well as the Yesto Carrots Moisturising Eye Cream and Rich Moisture Day Cream. All this came to £23.97 which is just over the Liz Earle Moisturiser but I get more for my money. And I'm pretty sure when I brought the moisturiser back in December it was more!

The Yesto Carrots Eye Cream and Rich Moisture Day Cream is now an everyday product in my skin care routine and the Yesto Grapefruit Correct & Repair Brightening Facial Wipes are recommended to be used once a week as they are used for cleansing, exfoliating and brightening the face. They are also targeted to help fight away spots so I'm guessing to much use can irritate the skin further.

I really enjoy using these wipes because they have such a lovely smell to them making you smell good as well as looking and feeling great! They are great for removing any left over make up to!
They are great to get into the hard to get areas and makes your face instantly refreshed! Like I said, they are recommended to use 1/2 times a week and I literally look forward to using them!

The moisturising cream had a lot to live up to being compared to the Liz Earle Moisturiser but it certainly has done me proud! I am so happy to find a moisturiser that is affordable, natural and truthful! For £9.99 it has left my skin so soft, amazed me by being natural and also leaves it hydrated and glowing.  The only thing I was disappointed with is the fact that there's no sun protection added. With this being a day cream I was hoping that was one on the key ingredients included, especially now it's summer. With that aside, I loved using it and enjoyed seeing fast improvements in my dry areas whereas the Liz Earle Moisturiser I had was only targeted at normal skin combination so I was left with smooth skin but no improvement in my dry skin.

The eye cream was just an extra purchase as I have really bad dark circles and would love to have a miracle potion to brighten them up so was hoping £9.99 worth of cream would do me something special! Sarcasm.
Obviously I didn't have high expectations for that price, but I just wanted to see a little difference at least. You only need a pea sized amount to cover the eye area so the little tube will really last! I can't say I've notice a huge difference in colour but it certainly wakes my eyes up. I have only used this for a week now so maybe things will improve but for now it is just a cream to make me look and feel more awake.

Overall with these products being 95% natural, being good to the environment as well as your skin I am please with the results it has left. However, with the little results I am seeing with the eye cream at the moment, I am unsure whether I would purchase again. I would 100% purchase the wipes again as they left my skin feeling happy, clean and hydrated and also smelled amazing as well as the moisturiser.

It is so soft and spongy, I just no it will love it!

Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick - £9.90
A sheer glossy lipstick infused with moisturising cherry oil to leave lips lusciously soft.
Lip colour 22.Corail Doux. This isn't a shade I would pick up myself but I am willing to give it a try. It states to melt onto the lips and enhances them with a glossy colour that gives you the coverage you want, which is what I look for in a lipstick.

OPI Nail Lacquer- The Brazil Collection - £11.95
A vibrant polish inspired by Brazil's tropical rainforests and sandy beaches.

This body lotion says it deeply moisturizes the skin leaving skin velvety smooth, comfortable and soft, so I can't wait to put it to the test. This cult French moisturiser soothes the skin with natural ingredients and is suitable for all.

Crabtree & Evelyn Handy Tips, Handed Down

Crabtree & Evelyn enjoyed our company so much last time they invited us back! This time it was for their launch of Handy Tips, Handed Down.

4th June

I, along with Hatty arrived in Oxford and went straight to Crabtree & Evelyn where we was greeted by all the lovely staff. I really enjoyed reading all of the other tips the public have already shared and have walked away eager to try new things and techniques! I shared a tip and got my £5 off voucher, which I will be spending on a couple of hand creams as I loved my last one I received which you can read about here.

Jess getting her hand massage.

We then had a lovely talk with the staff and looked around the shop smelling and testing all of the products. They have a fantastic men's section which looked amazing but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture (silly me). The store is filled with lovely products and great hampers, ideal for a special occasion. I was instantly drawn to the packaging of all the products and couldn't resist smelling everything that caught my eye.
We had the chance to have our nails done and have a lovely hand massage with a scent of our choice which was so relaxing.

Alone time.

Shower/bath time for me is my alone time, I could spend ages in the bathroom!

Today was one of those days when you can't wait to reach bed time. The weather was dull and the money was low so it was a day indoors trying to entertain an active, outdoor 2 year old. Unfortunately as I've been ill recently me and Kia have been stuck in a lot already so Kia had other ideas. Hello terrible 2's!
After a lot of crying, mess and misbehaving it was 5 o'clock and daddy came to the rescue so after I finished dinner I treated myself to a nice warm bath to relax, as there's nothing better than a relaxing bath to save the day.

Of course candles are essential along with mountains of bubbles.
We actually ran out of bath cream but the Lush Rose Bath Bar saved the day and filled my bath instantly as well as turning the water pink! Unfortunately it was a Mothers day limited addition product so I can no longer purchase but Lush are forever doing amazing products!

It isn't relaxing if its not complete without a face mask so I had help from Masque Peeling, anti stress which defiantly left my skin feeling smooth and gave me that little boost I needed!
.

These are my go to products in the shower/bath so I can leave the bath feeling and looking refreshed.  Read my reviews in the links below.

Products mentioned & to purchase:
Lush Limited Edition Bath Bar (Not Available)
Dove Visible-care Strengthening Cream Body Wash
For reviews:

Sometimes you just need a moment to shut away the world and rebuild yourself.
I am now feeling 100% better and fully chilled out whilst Kia is in bed and Ben is watching football.

What do you do to relax?

Crabtree & Evelyn - Lavender Hand Therapy*

Crabtree & Evelyn kindly put this 25g hand therapy lotion in our goody bag at the Oxford meet event.
I have only recently started using it and I have fallen in love with it already! Along with it being a perfect size to carry around, it is one of my favourite scents, lavender! I am hugely impressed with how much moisture it gives out which instantly sinks into your skin leaving no excess oily product slipping and sliding.

You only need a little product which really does go along way leaving your hand feeling silky and smooth. You can feel the difference instantly which is all I ask for in a hand cream as I can't stand applying all these products to notice no difference! With this only being £5.00 I can truly say it is worth the purchase and it is defiantly in my May favourites!!

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution 3-Step System

Clinique was giving away free samples on their website a few weeks back so I jumped at the chance to give their skin care a try and report back to you the outcome!

This little package comes with 3 products that work together to treat blemishes and helps prevent future break outs.  Step one is a deep clean anti - blemish solutions cleansing bar for both face and body. Step two is an anti - blemish solutions clarifying lotion to unclog pores and lastly step three is a treat and clear anti - blemish solutions all over clearing treatment (oil-free).

"Our 3-step system helps clear blemishes and gets breakouts under control 92% of women agreed (158 consumer test) that it kept their skin looking clearer,  just 3 simple steps, twice a day, rooted in dermatological science.  Skin looks calmer, smoother, less oily. The good news doesn't stop there. Because a life in clearer - looking skin means a happier you."

Cleared my make-up leaving smooth skin.

I put this to the test, using it twice a day for 7 days and had high expectations after the number of positives listed.

15/05/14
I received my package in the post so started using it that very night. First impressions, step one the Clinique soap done exactly what its meant to by giving you the deep clean you are after. I used this to get my make off to see how well a bit of soap and water did and I was impressed with how clean my face looked after. Step two gave a strong smell instantly and was kind of harsh for my skin straight after using step one but was a great second clean ready for Step three which was a lovely finish leaving my face so smooth!

16/05/14
I woke up doing the same steps which instantly woke me up feeling refreshed.  I absolutely love the soap as I feel it really does do a deep clean so really does live up to what its aimed. I done step 2 using a cotton pad and was left with no dirt which means the 3 way system done a great job the previous night. My skin soon got use to the harshness of the anti - blemish solutions clarifying lotion which was good and my skin still feels smooth and hydrated leaving no dryness.
Night - 100% avoid eyes! Ouchie!

21/05/14
I have still been using this daily and woke up today noticing white flakes on my dry areas (nose and eyelid) once scrubbed away it left my skin feeling smooth with no dryness left. My oily skin has toned down but I wasn't overly oily in the first place but with both skin problems toned down or gone completely I can happily use this with confidence knowing it works.

With the soap targeting to loosen surface flakes and leaving skin clean, comfortable and refreshed, giving me a deep clean and leaving me with smoother skin it acted perfectly with the anti - blemish solutions clarifying lotion which acted as a great exfoliator giving the extra clean and getting rid of the flakes leaving my skin clean and clear. It wouldn't be right not to include step 3 which makes the step 3 system complete by reducing excess oil and reduce current blemishes fighting future breakout. I recommend Clinique skin care now I have experienced the results for myself but I would choose a different skin type for me next time.

Clinique do a 3-Step skin care guide for all skin types on their website which have all three steps including cleanse, exfoliator and moisturizer for you which you can take a look for yourselves here.

The next thing I need to tackle is a few blackheads, any recommendations?

Soap & Glory - The Righteous Butter

Use after showering or bathing, smooth a generous handful of this onto damp skin and massage lightly until it all sinks in.

Hands up admit I use to be lazy when it came to body moisturiser (as I've mentioned 100 times already) until I found Lush, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner which you can read about here. Once that ran out I needed to find an alternative as my nearest lush is a train ride away which with a 2 year old sometimes isn't the number one choice! I found this lying around at my mum's when I was bathing Kia and it was unused so me being a great daughter I just had to show mum what she was missing out on! I have heard all great reviews on Soap and Glory so used this as soon as I got home! I have been using this along with the Soap and Glory Scrub of your life and am thrilled with how smooth my arms have become.

'My skin has become so much more healthier and hydrated, just feeling all round better than before moisturising. I can't tell you how much I have changed my skin care routine since I've seen results of my skin by just adding little product now and then. Body moisturiser is essential for me now, making time for the simple steps really does give you a great outcome making you feel a whole lot better.'

This being £10.50 for such a big tub with a lot of product is really worth the investment.  I really recommend this product along with The Scrub of your life from Soap and Glory as they work well together with the goodness of shea butter and aloe vera making your skin so smooth you swear you're wearing velvet.

Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter - buy here
£10.50

Soap & Glory - The Scrub of your life.

Wet down in the shower, use a handful of this away from the water, scrub until you're satisfied then rinse thoroughly.

For a body scrub I love the smoothness and instant feel of 'clean' once applied and scrubbed away. With the Soap and Glory Scrub of your life, you leave the shower feeling like you just had a deep clean, feeling smooth and looking glowing.
My skin, hands up wasn't the smoothest with me being lazy with body moisturiser so this gave me a little boost along with the Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter, applied after the shower which works great together achieving the smooth hydrated skin your body needs.
Not only does it feel good with the beads getting deep down in action but it smells good to! Leaving the shower or bath feeling like a new women.

Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor*

Hydrates skin longer than any other razor, leaving skin silky smooth up to 2 hours after shaving.
After reading this and the simple steps of this razor I couldn't wait to have a bit of me time and put it to the test!

The first thing about this razor that I absolutely love is the fact that this razor is already filled with moisturising serum so after shaving your legs the razor has already done the next step for you making it a quick and easy job done in less than 5 minutes.

This shaver has completely changed my view on razors! I, hands up admit that I am a very lazy person when it comes to shaving my legs! I NEVER get my legs out without skin colour tights as I absolutely hate my legs, so I am one of these people who buy the cheapest razors out there.
With 5 curved sensing blades and unique skin guards you get the shave you want with the protection you need making this the best shave I've had with no irritation. This pack comes with a case to keep the razor head protected making it safe and perfect for travelling!

I for sure, no I wont be going back to the cheap razors! They do they job, but not as well as the Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor which gives you a close cut as well as leaving your legs silky and smooth and with me having a 2 year old cutting out the moisturising step after shaving has truly saved a lot of time giving me more mummy time!

To be quiet honest with you I wasn't to sure on this at first as its quite a heavy brown and me having my hair coloured dark blonde I was a bit on the edge. I brought these as they was in a really good deal at wilkinsons so jumped at the chance to try out new products for my hair. With me trying to grow my hair and not using any heat on my hair i can't really do much with my hair so it leaves me shoving it up in a messy bun ALL the time so my hair has become quiet dull and dry. I fell in love with these as its does exactly what its meant to, leaving my hair feeling light, clean and shiny and giving it all the goodness that is impact in the bottle. CURRENTLY ON OFFER. Buy here.

I have recently wrote a blog post about this which you can read about here. 100% love this product!

Topshop Nail Varnish* Flash (Not on the website)
This silver is such a beautiful colour and full of glitter, a little certainly goes a long way with this. Goes with so many outfits, I just love it. It gives your nails such a wow but I don't think I need to tell you how good Topshop products are.

Batiste Dry Shampoo
Again I don't think I need to tell you how good this is but its reappeared in my favorites as its simply been a life saver recently when you just haven't got the time to wash your hair in the morning.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub*

Contains more than 85% naturally derived ingredients, including Swiss glacial water and Swiss botanicals.
Helps prevent blackheads and unclogs pores.
Promotes healthier-looking skin in just 7 days

When I received this in my goody bag when I went to the Oxford meet I was excited to try it as I love all face related products,  especially a scrub! This scrub is targeted at oily/blemish prone skin and once reading reviews and their promise of healthier looking skin in just 7 days I couldn't wait to try it and I was so pleased with the result it left my skin.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub

Firstly, I am in love with this smell, just opening it you get the burst of apricot.
Second, It is such a gentle scrub and you can really feel it working in to the skin. I massaged it most in my most problem area which is the corners of my nose and it instantly felt better after I washed away the product. After using it 4 times in the first week I was completely satisfied with my improvements.
Lastly, its so cheap! (depending where you but it from)
And of course... IT WORKS!

Simply wet your face with water then apply the scrub to the target areas on your face massaging it in, giving you a deep cleanse. It cleanses the pores getting rid of the surface oils and dirt before it leads to blackheads and blemishes. Use it 3/4 times a week and you will get the extra wash you need to get the smooth finish glow to your face.

So as I said my most problem area on my face was my nose as it was a mix of skin types; My nose was oily but the corners was so dried up it started to break out and scab leaving my nose really sore and red. I applied this scrub on for the first time and it left my face smooth and glowing but no obvious changes in the target area. The second and third application I could notice my dry skin reducing and feeling less inflamed. Fourth go using the scrub and the very next day my dry skin was completely gone feeling as smooth as my face! I am 100% happy with St. Ives and will continue to use this as part of my skin care routine!

Although it is targeted at oily skin I would recommend this to dry skin to!

The Basic Tips & Tricks For Make Up

Moisturiser - It is so important to moisturise your face before applying your make up because if you don't your foundation won't last throughout the day as your face will soak in all the product you just applied this is because your face is dehydrated when waking up so moisturiser will give it all its natural oils back so it is a must for your skin care routine as well as plenty water!

Primers - Applying a primer to your face before the foundation will allow an extra base for your foundation to sit on, this will prevent regular top ups and allow your foundation to last longer through out the day.

Foundation - Don't be shy when it comes to choosing the right shade for you, make sure you get a professional to swatch a sample on your face to allow an extra guide to the perfect flawless face. Unless you want to walk around like Casper the ghost or a walking wotsit. Also be sure to choose a foundation that is right for your skin type: You don't want to walk away with an oily foundation if your main problem is an oily face.

Concealer- Find a concealer that is lighter than your foundation but not to light as we don't want to highlight the under eye we just want to get rid of the darkness. Be gentle when applying concealer as your eye is the most sensitive area on your face so use a dabbing technique with a brush, sponge or your finger when applying! Never rub the concealer in as this will just rub away the foundation you just put on.

Powder - When buying the perfect powder for you, make sure it's not to heavy and will just add another layer onto the face. We want a transparent powder to set the make up instead of colouring over the products we have already applied. Be careful when applying the powder by tapping off any access powder before putting it on the face as to much powder can leave you looking cakey.

Tools and Techniques - This is so important in your routine because the right tools and techniques will really show in the end result of your look. Some people use a brush and some use a sponge when applying foundation, with me I prefer using a brush as I think a sponge soaks in more product whereas with a brush, the foundation sits on top and you can just blend and blend until you get the flawless even look. When applying the powder always make sure you dab the product on the face and not stroke it on with a brush as this will also move the foundation and give you a cakey finish.

Bronzer - When using bronzer only use the amount you need and no more. Tap off the excess, an over bronzed face can leave you looking dirty. Below I have added a picture I have found from Afterglow Cosmetics giving you a guide where to apply the bronzer.

The main places to contour using bronzer is under the jaw line
the hollows of your cheeks and the top of your temple. You can also
add some on the side of your nose giving the impression of a smaller nose.
Highlight your T zone, brow bone, top of your cheek bone,
 your chin and cupid bow.
Apply blush above contour on the cheek.
Blusher - Choose the colour you want but leave it suttle giving the natural finish. You don't want to be left looking like your blushing. Apply above the contour and no closer then 2 fingers from your nose.

Highlight - Using a highlighter will make your face glow in the right areas. In the picture above it also shows where to highlight but again DON'T over highlight leaving your face looking oily and shiny. Make sure your chosen highlighter hasn't got a shimmer in it as it won't look natural at all.

Eyebrows - Don't just fill in your eyebrows! Make sure you just fill in where needed using the correct colour for your brows no darker, shape them using a brush in hair stroke movements.

Eye shadow - Using a primer before applying eye shadow will act as a glue for the base of your eye shadow.  Use colours that will bring out your eye colour making sure you blend leaving no harsh lines. Putting a lighter shimmer in the corner of your tear duct isn't always advised as it can bring out the wrinkles surrounding but if you can pull it off and got no worries at present then work it :)

Mascara - Curling your lashes before applying the mascara gives you that head start of shaping the lashes. Try being neat and use as little product on the brush at a time, to much will leave you with clumpy lashes. If you're not neat when applying your mascara like me, use a card to cover your eye lid so you don't smudge any one your eye lid and if there are any clumps then you can separate them by using the card to.

Lips - Be bold when it comes to lip colour. I am currently going through a stage of trying new colours as I always go for nudes but using colour can brighten up your face giving it the finished look. Using nudes all the time will make you look incomplete. Use a lip liner when applying some lipsticks so the product doesn't bleed onto the skin and dab off any extra product by closing your lips on a piece of tissue.

Finished! Make time and take time when doing your make up as it will show when finished.
I hope this has gave you a few tips if you're a newbie to the make up world  :)
