M.A.C Prep + Prime Skin

An ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicones. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the laydown and application of foundation or powder.

M.A.C was offering free samples of Prep + Prime Skin on their website a few weeks back so I jumped at the chance to try out a primer as I have never thought it was necessary. With it being hotter than usual at the moment, my make up tends to slip and slide off my face. I have heard a lot of make up artist and beauty gurus recommend face primers but I thought it would just be an extra unnecessary product on my face.
I have a summer wedding coming up and the last thing you want is to having to keep topping up your make up so thought I would get this sample ready for the wedding!

I have tried it out a few times to see if its worth the rave and worth the extra product slapped on.
First thing I noticed was my make up being less of a task to apply. The primer left a flawless finish to the face, leaving a great base for the make up. My face was left feeling a lot smoother than usual after all products was applied, which is great for the overall look!
Recently it's been highs of 22° which is a average warmish day in England. I didn't do much today just sit and watched films with my daughter, played in the garden and a bit of housework until 3 when I had the dentist and a walk around town, but the sun still hit my face.

Overall, other than my nose, I think it's done pretty well considering the heat. My nose is no fault of M.A.C's, I blame the hay-fever and 1000 tissues I needed. That aside I didn't have to top up my make up meaning M.A.C Prep + Prime Skin done a great job against the heat. After a long day I was still left with great coverage which I don't normally have without a primer! I was amazed with the coverage around my nose area where I suffer from dry skin and redness, at the end of a hot day, the area was still covered leaving me with no worries to top up. It also states to blot away excess oil which with me being normal to dry skin combination, I can't really comment. However I do sometimes get an oily T-zone which wasn't a problem with me the day I tested. My face was left looking flawless and matte at the end of the day with M.A.C Prep + Prime Skin, when I am normally left with little or no coverage.

The only down side is, I was a little cakey in the eye area where concealer was added, so I don't no if it was one to many products for the under eye or I need a new concealer.

However, I am fully satisfied with the results that it left, means no worrying on the wedding day about make up coverage as M.A.C Prep + Prime Skin is on the case. I really enjoyed this primer as my main worry was it being to heavy and being an extra product on the face, but this primer is so light and moisturising that it just sinks into the skin like a moisturiser so you don't even feel like you have applied it.
I would recommend using it on long days and events so you are less worried about topping up your make up and more engaged in the party/event.

Have you tried the M.A.C Prep + Prime Skin?
