What's in my bag - Mummy's Edition

It's come to that time where I share with you the what's in my bag post!
With me being a mummy, there's a slight twist as I only carry around a changing bag so welcome to the 'What's in my changing bag' post for you parents!

I currently have the Cosatto Yo Go Lightly pushchair which comes with the matching changing bag.

Pampers Nappies (Size 6) - Depending on the length of time I will be out for I normally carry around 5 nappies as you can never be to sure! Kia is more of a drinker than an eater so we go through nappies like anything!  Luckily her diet is changing and she is getting out the habit so fingers crossed there will be less nappies and hello potty! I personally love Pampers as I find they are reliable to hold a lot of wetness with out spillage.

Pampers Fragrance Free Baby Wipes - Used for obvious reasons as well as cleaning down the messy kids!

Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment - This stuff is super amazing!  Kia gets sensitive skin down below and this is literally a miracle worker when nappy rash gets out of hand. We only use this when she starts to get a rash and this prevents it getting to the unbearable stage. This was recommended by my GP as sudocrem wasn't working which is when I found out that sudocrem just acts as a barrier to cover the area and not that great for nappy rashes, whereas if nappy rash is already an issue this cream is a barrier to stop further contact as well as a cream to calm down the irritation.

Beaker Of Water - Water is so important to keep children hydrated so I always carry around a beaker. I really love this beaker as it doesn't leak and can be used as a cup as well.

Snacks - I always keep a few snacks in my bag as Kia tends to be fidgety in the pushchair. I only bring healthy snacks with me, apples are her favourite!

Keys - Obviously to lock up the house.

Phone (Currently not in photo) - In case of an emergency. In case of random pictures need to be uploaded and well, who doesn't take their phone whether they go?

Inhaler - To survive!

Purse - To do some naughty purchases.

Sun Cream - In case England decided to be sunny! And at the moment, it is!

Bib - To keep Kias clothes stain free!

Make up - In case of a top up
- Collection Concealer
- Rimmel Stay Powder
- Real Techniques Contour Brush

Teddy - It would be the end of the world if he wasn't part of the day!

Reins - In case she wants to get out and walk.

Some times I carry around spare clothes but not very often.

How packed is your bag/changing bag?

Being a young parent.

A bit of a different post for you today but I wanted to share with you my views on being a young mum. If you are also a young mum I hope you can relate to this!

A little bit about me.
I became pregnant at 18 and my life completely changed as soon as I saw the pregnancy test. I don't no if it was just me but I grew up instantly.  Becoming a parent is a complete huge step in anyone's life as you no longer become one, it no longer becomes just us, it becomes three, a family.
I'm not going to lie to you I cried as soon as I saw the pregnancy test as I wasn't ready be a mum. We wasn't ready to be parents! We have only been together 4 months. I was scared that Ben would leave. My life has only just started, I only just started feeling like an adult! Before I get all the comments on contraception, I was on the pill but I was ill at the time she was conceived and the pill isn't 100% when you mix with other pills which I found out the hard way.
Anyway, things had to happen pretty dam fast so we started to meet regularly with a lovely women who helped young parents with what to expect in the future with bills etc so we had an idea of how we would manage.
Ben grew up instantly and got a better paid job and a family car as he had a small 3 door Saxo. I got more hours at work doing a lot of overtime so we could start buying things for our little princess.
With many up and downs along the way we never gave up and found ourselves a 2 bed house we could afford along with bills. Kia was born on the 24th March and we moved in on the 1st April 2012 so things soon happened quickly and we was a little family in our own little home! But doing 2 big steps at once came at a price which you can read below.

Suffering with depression with a young child.
I'm not scared to share this as I have finally fight against it. Suffering with depression was the most hardest thing I have ever gone through. I never wanted to get out of bed, never wanted to get dressed out of my pj's and never wanted to open the curtains,  I just wanted to sit in darkness and eat, sleep and cry. I use to cry every time Ben went to work and sometimes he had to take his holidays to look after me as I was in a right state even after me shouting at him and stating I hated him. I couldn't admit to myself I was depressed as I didn't want to feel like a failure and didn't want to let anyone down. I wanted to be a perfect mum! But I soon realized there is no such thing.
Ben's mum took me out one day and I just burst out crying once she said she knew what I was going through, so we went to the doctors there and then and got prescribed anti depression tablets. A few months after taking them I was taking baby steps and finally feeling myself again. I started opening the curtains, getting dressed and then taking a walk to the shop, getting on the bus on my own with Kia and then the biggest step was taking Kia to a local baby group by myself.  So no matter how low you get, just remember things can only get better! Ask for a hand from your family and friends and take the biggest step and go get help. It's nothing to ashamed of, its the first step to getting better.

Being a young parent overall.
Being a young mum is honestly the best thing ever! Such a joy! One quote describes being young parent and that is 'we may have met a little early, but I get to love you longer' I regret nothing.
Being a parent at any age is a challenge in its self with changes you have to make, with
- Money being tight
-Your energy levels reaches its lowest
-You can no longer be selfish
-You can no longer come first
-Your priorities will need to change
-There's not a lot of 'me' time
-Quiet no longer exists and when it does, its bad
-Your washing gets twice as much
-You will get back ache just by carry everything you need for a baby
-House is a mess, no point it tidying up yet...
-I wouldn't wear white if I was you...
*But it's all worth it*

People judge young parents to quickly thinking we all do it for an easy way out but you couldn't be more wrong! I have been to collage open days, nursery viewings and applying for jobs.  I am currently learning to drive as well as Ben working so hard to provide and working hard to progress. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful little family and a wonderful daddy to Kia who has stuck with me through the toughest. Kia has £400 in her savings already at the age of 2 and we can't wait to watch her grow into an intelligent little girl! We want nothing more than Kia to be happy. I'm not sticking up for every young couples as I no some people do take things for granted and do get pregnant for the wrong reasons but before you judge, make sure you no the full story not just the title.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this has helped you, or you can relate to this because us young parents need to stick together. Let's show the judgemental people who's wrong!
I for sure am 100% proud to call myself a young mum and you should be to, whether you're a couple or single, because if you're not happy in a relationship its not healthy to carry on for the child's sake as there will just be row after row and your child will feel it and see it. So my hats go off to you if you're doing it alone! Stuff the haters! Lets make our kids proud!

You're doing a great job :)

Kia's 2nd Birthday

Kia's Birthday

Just a short one :)
My little girl turnt a not so little 2 today at 12:56.
This time last year was snowing so we wanted to keep the day safe, although she still got very spoilt.
We wanted to do a family event where we could all get together and enjoy the day with the special birthday girl, so we chose pizza hut as its somewhere where Kia would enjoy and we all could get down together.

She got very spoilt with a trampoline, balance bike, dolls house, play laptop and much more. She is the first grandchild both sides so you can imagine! (Not bragging, just in case you were interested) I loved seeing her smile and I can't wait to see her enjoy all her toys.

I can't believe she is 2! The years have just flown by and I couldn't be more proud of her. I'm not just saying that as she's my daughter,  she is just such a clever girl!

The cake is custom made in a Cath Kidston, patch work style made by a local cake shop owner.

Happy Birthday Kia!
Hope you had a great day!
Love mummy ♡

Take care xo

Birth Story,

Meet Kia Marie
Kia was born on the 24th March 2012 and here I am going to tell you how she entered the world.

Kia was due on the 12th but kept us all waiting 12 days later!
12th March 2012
There I was on my due date eating curry, bouncing on the gym ball and going for long walks, but she just wasn't ready. We all tried it right?
I tried every day to get her moving but in the end I just let her come when she was ready. (until I had to get induced of course) Which I new from that day I would had to be induced. I didn't mind as long as Kia was ok.
                                                                      24th March 2012
I went in at 9:30 totally nervous. I was just thinking to myself, how strange knowing I could be a parent in hours to come! Once I got to my ward with 1 other person waiting to meet there bundle of joy, I was getting more and more scared.  I could hear women screaming, then baby's crying whilst I was fighting through my contractions. My boyfriend on his iPad and mum reading her magazines, totally calm and I just couldn't wait for it to all be over! I was all monitored up to check baby's heartbeat and to see if she was ok and not to stressed. As some of us may no the routine of this, you no what came next. The prostin gel up 'there' to get things moving! I was only 1 and a half cm's dilated at this point!
About 12:20 the midwife came to check on me again to see how far I've improved, just to find out I was 5cms dilated. The midwife got up and said 'you're ready'
WHAT? I don't feel like I'm having enough pain to be ready to push a baby out! (watching to much one born every minute) (although I couldn't hardly walk to the delivery room)
Once I waddled to the delivery room it all started to feel unreal. I got on to the bed and the midwifes around me was so relaxed getting things ready for the birth. They was so relaxed thinking I would be here for a few hours that they offered me some toast.
One of the midwifes started to get the syntocinon drip ready for my arm whilst the other midwife was trying to pop my waters. It took a few attempts to pop my waters but she finally did it but soon after Kia's heart beat was slowing down but at the same time I got the erdge to push. As I didn't no what anything feel like I shouted 'I NEED A POO' The midwife laughs 'no you don't, it's just baby's head' I was so sure that I needed a poo so I just kept saying I really need a poo, what if I poo when I push? The midwife just kept reassuring me that they've seen a lot worse. I really was a state! I couldn't even blame the drugs as I didn't have any!
One of my midwifes pushed the emergency button at this point and all the midwifes rushed in! Kia was becoming really stressed and we needed to get her out as soon as possible! I pushed and there she was! She didn't hang about at all! I was waiting for her to cry as I didn't no what was going on with all the midwives rushing in. A few minutes later she was crying and was handed to me skin to skin.
Kia entered the world at 12:56 weighing a tiny 5lbs 1oz. The 12 days over the due date was so worth the wait! She is just perfect. No one can describe that feeling as soon as you see your baby for the first time! Love is just an understatement. Me and Kia had to stay in hospital 3 more days after, due to her weight and  jaundice. I breastfeed her and she soon put on enough weight to go home on the 3rd day! When we got dismissed I was over the moon! I loved the hospital and I loved the midwife's but I just wanted to go home and show her the world!
Me, Kia and Ben (my boyfriend and Kia's daddy) moved into our new home on April 1st so we started our family life in a new home with a new baby. It was just PERFECT!
I would love to hear all about your birth stories :)
I am so, so ,sooo proud of her! I cant believe I am a mummy! The best thing in the world. I have enjoyed watching her grow into such a clever little girl!
She has made me so proud and here she is today.... Nearly 2! xo
