Life is a roller coaster.

Life has many ups and downs but no matter how low you may feel there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.  Please forgive the lack of post I have been uploading due to financial and life changes.

In my previous post about 'Being a young parent' I mentioned a few things which now have changed, one being; I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!
I focused on passing to open new doors for me and I finally did it in July! This was on top of my to do list so I didn't have to rely on others for lifts and I didn't have to be stuck in on rainy days struggling to find entertainment each day for Kia. It is such an amazing feeling knowing how much freedom I now have to be able to wake up and go wherever I want.

Secondly, BEN GOT A NEW JOB! Which is great! He got a massive pay rise and a company car! I am super proud of him! These both happening at the same time was exciting for us. We felt extremely lucky that things was finally looking up, but it also came at a price for me. Not meaning to sound like a 'typical young parent' which most may say,  but I lost all benefits as he was classed on a high income. Don't get me wrong I was over the moon, we never thought we would be this lucky but me having a car to run was now impossible. (hints why I couldn't buy new products to review & Birchbox cancellation) which brings me onto 3..

I HAVE A JOB! Which I am so so so happy about! All the money I get, I actually earn! And it feels great! Relying on the government is such a stress and I couldn't wait to get out and earn my money! I am only doing evenings as a waitress and weekends as a receptionist but the feeling of meeting new people and actually working is amazing. Me having this job, which works around child care means less time with Ben. So I see him Monday evening and Friday evening and that's about it. Its hard. But its the only way it'll work until Kia is in nursery.

Last but not least, Kia has a placement in a preschool for November, which is 3 hours for 2 days which will give her a jump start into what nursery will be like! I cant wait to see her make friends and grow her knowledge and imagination! Money well spent!

Life is a roller coaster as I feel like we have started at the bottom, been through a very bumpy ride and finally at a good height where we feel comfortable with. I am so proud of where we are in life at such a young age of 21 and 24 (soon) :) ALWAYS focus on the prize and work hard to get it! If you're not going to put your all in to achieving what you want, then you probably will be stuck on the roller coaster.  Even if there is a bumpy ride ahead; Never give up.
Aim high! Next on our list is a house that we can call home!

I promise I will start uploading again soon when I get the time!
How's your ride been on your roller coaster?

Crabtree & Evelyn Handy Tips, Handed Down

Crabtree & Evelyn enjoyed our company so much last time they invited us back! This time it was for their launch of Handy Tips, Handed Down.
After smelling all the scents and walking away with a lovely hand massage and manicure last time I couldn't resits going back for more!

4th June

I, along with Hatty arrived in Oxford and went straight to Crabtree & Evelyn where we was greeted by all the lovely staff. They laid out a few nibbles with a lovely jug of buck-fizz which went down a treat. They told us more about the new Handy Tips, Handed Down tree which is open to everyone, share a tip which gets displayed on the tree for your chance to win a family photo shoot experience worth £600 and you automatically get a £5 off voucher to spend in store!

I really enjoyed reading all of the other tips the public have already shared and have walked away eager to try new things and techniques! I shared a tip and got my £5 off voucher, which I will be spending on a couple of hand creams as I loved my last one I received which you can read about here.

Jess getting her hand massage.

We then had a lovely talk with the staff and looked around the shop smelling and testing all of the products. They have a fantastic men's section which looked amazing but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture (silly me). The store is filled with lovely products and great hampers, ideal for a special occasion. I was instantly drawn to the packaging of all the products and couldn't resist smelling everything that caught my eye.
We had the chance to have our nails done and have a lovely hand massage with a scent of our choice which was so relaxing.
Thank you to the staff at Crabtree & Evelyn Oxford for inviting us and treating us! I can't wait to try out my new hand cream and nail varnish.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Me, Hatty, Stephanie and Hannah then went and grabbed something to eat at Cleaver which was a lovely finish to the night. I really enjoyed getting to no the girls a bit more! Be sure to check out their blog!

Have you shared your tip yet?

May Favourites

Hello June!

May has been and gone already!
It's literally flew by, leaving me little time to try out new stuff, but here are couple of products that I have been reaching for throughout may.

Barry M Nail Paint. - Starting around £2.30
If you follow me on Instagram you no I'm a lover on nail varnishes!  Especially Barry M. My sister got me Blue Moon 410 and Berry 402 for my birthday and I can't get enough of them! They are such perfect colours for the season and you can build the colour with how many coats you want. They leave a beautiful shine giving your nails a flawless finish that last for ages!

Avon Advance Techniques Styling Heat Protection Spray - £2.70
I haven't used heat on my hair for ages as I've been attempting to grow it. Throughout may I've been wearing my hair down a lot and like it to be straight so needed some heat protection to help me out before I use heat on my hair. This is cheap yet does the job in protecting the hair from heat and leaving a shine without making the hair oily.

Cutex Ultra Cleansing Nail Polish Remover - £1.00 (100ml)
I am super impressed with how long this has lasted me. Its been months! A little product goes a long way and May, my nails probably had every colour going which this has done exactly what it is meant to getting rid of the nail polish with hardly any pressure, leaving my nails fresh for the next product.

Rimmel London Kate Rockin’ Curves Mascara - £4.99
I saw this on offer and was instantly attracted to the packaging and the Broken heart shaped brush which is so good to work with giving your lashes a full coat whilst curling the lashes. I however didn't look at what colour I picked up and accidentally picked 005 Eye Rock Sapphire instead of Black but luckily it doesn't give off to much colour. This does a great job giving volume to the lashes whilst not ending up clumpy!

What's been your go to beauty items recently?

Accepting who you are.

Confidence is an easy thing to get knocked down if you let it. -I'm not saying I'm the next Gok Wan but I wanted to share my progress in the confidence world.
Its all about embracing what you've got, accepting who you are and not letting anyone or anything put you down! Easier said than done, I no.

Weight gain is always a thing that gets you down! I don't no anyone who doesn't complain about their weight! First thing to do is stop comparing yourself to others. I've come to realize that the clothes I use to wear are no longer an option because of my mummy tummy! So hide all of your clothes you use to wear as that's just a constant reminder, or simply just get rid! I buy mostly over sized clothes now just because of my tummy, but once I finally get round to toning a bit more I will embrace my curves as I am a size 12 and I'm not ashamed. I'm not going to suddenly starve myself to be a the weight I want, just gradually eat better as there's no rush! If you're not going to enjoy the diet plan you're doing then you won't stick to it, so find something you can adapt to.

For me, it was a huge thing to take in knowing I was a size 8-10 before pregnancy and now I'm a 12; but what I find helps is spending a little on a lot. Go into a local warehouse or go to the sales and treat yourself knowing you just got 10 things for the price of 5, you will feel fab in your bargains.
When you have a special occasion to go to that's when you can splash out and treat yourself to an expensive item because you will feel a million dollars and be looking it to.
I'm not saying you need to splash the cash to feel great as a simple smile can lift any outfit to life!
Key thing to me now is comfort!
Don't feel the need to keep up with the latest trends if you're not comfortable in them! Just make your own new trend, stand up tall and rock it.
Lastly, show everyone your best assists which will take your mind of the negatives you're trying to hide.

I am not ashamed to admit that I have a few suck in pants and body suits hidden in my closet! These are a godsend and really make you feel better when you're on a night out! They just give you that boost of confidence you're lacking and let you get on with your night without the worry of the dreaded muffin top and love handles!

Stretch marks are obviously a thing that nobody wants to see on themselves but once giving birth it is honestly a mark you've earned, a reminder of your little miracle. They are completely natural whether you have giving birth or not! I am not going to say I show and tell everyone I have them as it's not something I want to sit down and talk about but don't be ashamed, its all part of growing. I have grew to ignore them as I had them when I was in secondary school on my legs and my confidence was non-existent then! I skipped nearly every P.E lesson because of them.
Once I gave birth I discovered more and yes, hands up I still get down about them now but my boyfriend loves me for who I am and that's all I need to no.
Take baby steps to showing off your skin.
Remember, they are completely natural, it's not only you!

Skin was my personal little hate of mine as I hated the fact that I was pale, and I mean pale! I use to fake tan and now I have learnt to love my skin colour. Being pale comes with many advantages. One you're completely natural and don't need the wasted effort and money with fake tan! Two, you stand out from the crowd with a bold red lip and dark hair and three, there's nothing wrong with being pale in the first place, just except your natural skin and GLOW!
Freckles was also an issue with me and I never liked showing off my arms because they are covered in them. In summer I use to wear long sleeved tops as I didn't want to be looked at because I had freckly arms. Now I love my freckles and don't understand why they was a big problem in the first place.
The same with acne, I personally have never had a problem with this but some people have. The problem is we make a massive deal out of something that we are insecure about when people probably haven't even noticed. It is constantly in our head and that's what we need to change!

Make up is your friend! It is amazing what a little make up does for us girls. You can go from feeling low to feeling sexy! A little goes a long way so just give your face a little pop of colour and you will feel like a new women!
Even if you don't want to wear make up a simple hair cut can change your view on yourself. Experiment with cuts, styles and colour until you feel you have found a new look that you want to show the world.

'Take me as I am or watch me walk away'Never let a silly little boy put you down, they somehow think they are the bee's knee's if they insult a women, but we all no that they aren't settling down anytime soon.
Don't force yourself to change to make somebody else happy. They're are not even worth it.
Surround yourself with positive friends and let go of the negatives. All you need to do is one simple step which is respect your body and walk away.

Personality is a beautiful thing. Don't try be somebody you're not! Be yourself and your beauty will shine right through.

I can only thank my boyfriend for complimenting me everyday making me feel confident to work with what I have ♡

There are always going to be a few things we hate about ourselves and we may never fully embrace our body, but don't suffer and hide yourself away because your body is apart of you and the little things you might hate, may be another persons want.

Work together to bring more smiley faces to the world and boost the self confidence of many individuals by giving a compliment a day!

You're beautiful
xo

Being a young parent.

A bit of a different post for you today but I wanted to share with you my views on being a young mum. If you are also a young mum I hope you can relate to this!

A little bit about me.
I became pregnant at 18 and my life completely changed as soon as I saw the pregnancy test. I don't no if it was just me but I grew up instantly.  Becoming a parent is a complete huge step in anyone's life as you no longer become one, it no longer becomes just us, it becomes three, a family.
I'm not going to lie to you I cried as soon as I saw the pregnancy test as I wasn't ready be a mum. We wasn't ready to be parents! We have only been together 4 months. I was scared that Ben would leave. My life has only just started, I only just started feeling like an adult! Before I get all the comments on contraception, I was on the pill but I was ill at the time she was conceived and the pill isn't 100% when you mix with other pills which I found out the hard way.
Anyway, things had to happen pretty dam fast so we started to meet regularly with a lovely women who helped young parents with what to expect in the future with bills etc so we had an idea of how we would manage.
Ben grew up instantly and got a better paid job and a family car as he had a small 3 door Saxo. I got more hours at work doing a lot of overtime so we could start buying things for our little princess.
With many up and downs along the way we never gave up and found ourselves a 2 bed house we could afford along with bills. Kia was born on the 24th March and we moved in on the 1st April 2012 so things soon happened quickly and we was a little family in our own little home! But doing 2 big steps at once came at a price which you can read below.

Suffering with depression with a young child.
I'm not scared to share this as I have finally fight against it. Suffering with depression was the most hardest thing I have ever gone through. I never wanted to get out of bed, never wanted to get dressed out of my pj's and never wanted to open the curtains,  I just wanted to sit in darkness and eat, sleep and cry. I use to cry every time Ben went to work and sometimes he had to take his holidays to look after me as I was in a right state even after me shouting at him and stating I hated him. I couldn't admit to myself I was depressed as I didn't want to feel like a failure and didn't want to let anyone down. I wanted to be a perfect mum! But I soon realized there is no such thing.
Ben's mum took me out one day and I just burst out crying once she said she knew what I was going through, so we went to the doctors there and then and got prescribed anti depression tablets. A few months after taking them I was taking baby steps and finally feeling myself again. I started opening the curtains, getting dressed and then taking a walk to the shop, getting on the bus on my own with Kia and then the biggest step was taking Kia to a local baby group by myself.  So no matter how low you get, just remember things can only get better! Ask for a hand from your family and friends and take the biggest step and go get help. It's nothing to ashamed of, its the first step to getting better.

Being a young parent overall.
Being a young mum is honestly the best thing ever! Such a joy! One quote describes being young parent and that is 'we may have met a little early, but I get to love you longer' I regret nothing.
Being a parent at any age is a challenge in its self with changes you have to make, with
- Money being tight
-Your energy levels reaches its lowest
-You can no longer be selfish
-You can no longer come first
-Your priorities will need to change
-There's not a lot of 'me' time
-Quiet no longer exists and when it does, its bad
-Your washing gets twice as much
-You will get back ache just by carry everything you need for a baby
-House is a mess, no point it tidying up yet...
-I wouldn't wear white if I was you...
*But it's all worth it*

People judge young parents to quickly thinking we all do it for an easy way out but you couldn't be more wrong! I have been to collage open days, nursery viewings and applying for jobs.  I am currently learning to drive as well as Ben working so hard to provide and working hard to progress. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful little family and a wonderful daddy to Kia who has stuck with me through the toughest. Kia has £400 in her savings already at the age of 2 and we can't wait to watch her grow into an intelligent little girl! We want nothing more than Kia to be happy. I'm not sticking up for every young couples as I no some people do take things for granted and do get pregnant for the wrong reasons but before you judge, make sure you no the full story not just the title.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this has helped you, or you can relate to this because us young parents need to stick together. Let's show the judgemental people who's wrong!
I for sure am 100% proud to call myself a young mum and you should be to, whether you're a couple or single, because if you're not happy in a relationship its not healthy to carry on for the child's sake as there will just be row after row and your child will feel it and see it. So my hats go off to you if you're doing it alone! Stuff the haters! Lets make our kids proud!

You're doing a great job :)

Today I turn a year older, the big 21!
I have had a great day with the sun shining and the kindness of all friends and family being so thoughtful.

My lovely boyfriend treated me to breakfast after a lye in, brought me lunch at the weekend and brought me a winning scratch card!
My mum booked the day off and treated me to lunch after a trip to fed the ducks with Kia,  the sun was Beaming down making the mood of the public great! I then got whisked away to a 4 star hotel to have a relaxing afternoon in the pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym then relaxed further with afternoon tea served with tea and wine!

I can't thank everyone enough for their kindness. I have had a great day and been truly lucky with presents x

May Birchbox

Once I received my March Birchbox in my OXMEET goody bag I was won over and became a monthly subscriber. I preferred the Birchbox over the Glossybox,  (personal choice) and yet again I am thrilled with what came in May's box!

First sight.

This jet black adds both volume and length to all types of lashes. I was so excited to try this I used it the following day and was thrilled with the results shown below:

Soigne Nail Lacquer - £11.00
I am a huge nail polish lover so its always a win to receive one. I didn't no what to expect with this as I never really heard of it, but first impressions are great. I already no I will be purchasing more from Soigne again. I only used 2 coats and both dried up instantly leaving a smooth glossy finish.

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath and Showet Oil - £39.00
This invigorating blend of pink grapefruit, rosemary and juniper berry will soften skin and uplift your mood. I can't wait to try this as I love experimenting new things when it comes to shower and bath products and this sounds lush with the mixture of fruity scents.

Impressed? Purchase the Birchbox here.

Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor*

Hydrates skin longer than any other razor, leaving skin silky smooth up to 2 hours after shaving.
After reading this and the simple steps of this razor I couldn't wait to have a bit of me time and put it to the test!

The first thing about this razor that I absolutely love is the fact that this razor is already filled with moisturising serum so after shaving your legs the razor has already done the next step for you making it a quick and easy job done in less than 5 minutes.

This shaver has completely changed my view on razors! I, hands up admit that I am a very lazy person when it comes to shaving my legs! I NEVER get my legs out without skin colour tights as I absolutely hate my legs, so I am one of these people who buy the cheapest razors out there.
With 5 curved sensing blades and unique skin guards you get the shave you want with the protection you need making this the best shave I've had with no irritation. This pack comes with a case to keep the razor head protected making it safe and perfect for travelling!

I for sure, no I wont be going back to the cheap razors! They do they job, but not as well as the Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor which gives you a close cut as well as leaving your legs silky and smooth and with me having a 2 year old cutting out the moisturising step after shaving has truly saved a lot of time giving me more mummy time!

Now on offer at Boots for £4.99 was £9.99!!

*Although I was gifted this item, I am not paid for this review, everything I have said is 100% my personal opinion.

OOTD || Simple Style

Simple Style, Costa Date.

Jumper - New Look
Jeans - New Look
Shoes - New Look
all are old which I found in the back of my wardrobe so may no longer be available.

I'm not doing anything special today just meeting my friend for a Costa whilst the little ones have their little toddler conversation but I thought I would do another OOTD for Simple Style!

The sunshine doesn't no what it is doing today so I've gone for a knitted jumper but with plenty of air holes pairing it with blue jeans to tie in with the coloured strips on the jumper. Comfortable shoes of course! You mummy's no why! Kia being 2 and 2 months (nearly) she is starting to hate the pushchair which means more walking!

Costa is always a great place for a chat with pots of tea and baby chinos all round. Other mummy's having their meet up and the children getting there freedom away from telly!
Me and Nicole had lots to catch up on and the children loved their play date.

Hope you don't mind this random post! Just thought a post on simply style would be a change.

What did you get up to today?

OOTD & Jemma's Story.

Jemma's Story

Last night I went to a charity event for a well known local girl who inspired us all with her constant fighting against Cystic Fibrosis! She was such a strong girl and was always in and out of hospital giving CF their biggest battle. She had a beautiful baby girl who sadly entered the world sleeping but always had the support from her family, friends and boyfriend who she married whilst fighting the pain in her hospital bed. Like I said her story and constant fight inspired many people! Jemma sadly passed away 2012 being 21 and this June my sister and all her friends who was very close to Jemma are doing a Charity 100km midnight bike ride through London in honor of Jemma and to help raise money for people who are also fighting against Cystic Fibrosis.
PLEASE take time to donate here.
Remember, every little helps and thank you for your time!

I was luckily enough to go to my first ever event on Sunday 23rd March to the Oxford meet thanks to the lovely Hatty who kindly invited me to be her guest. I was thrilled to be asked and jumped at the chance to meet to new bloggers and experience my first ever event.

It was very much a last minute thing and I had an hour and a bit to get ready! As soon as we got there (me and Hatty being late) we went straight to Crabtree & Evelyn where we looked at their products, smelling and trying all the samples whilst others was having hand massages and manicures using some of their best products. It was so nice to relax and let someone else take care of my hands and nails for me. (how gorgeous is the colour, pictured above)!

I was looking around the shop eyeing up the gift boxes they created for mothers day, they was beautifully presented and so eye catching. All the packaging for the products were just adorable along with the amazing smells bursting from the lotions. We was kindly giving a goody bag with a choice of fragranced hand care lotion which I dived in for lavender. I am so excited to use this with lavender being my favorite scent!

We then had time to kill so me and Hatty grabbed a bite to eat, then met the girls at Costa for a natter then headed to Lush! My dream came true at this moment: lock in at Lush with bloggers, rose lemonade and rose cakes that the staff kindly made themselves.

The lovely spread the girls put on with beautifully decorated cupcakes and rose lemonade! Gorgeous!

The staff at Lush, Oxford was so welcoming and put on such a lovely evening by having a skin consultant to help us choose the right products for our skin type and a colour reading wheel to help us be more brave when it comes to colours. I was so amazed with the colour reading wheel I couldn't wait to jump at the chance to see what colours would jump out at me. If you don't no what the colour wheel is for then read more about it here. These are the colours that caught my eye.

The first one was Sophisticated, second was Glamorous and the last one was Drive.

Can we just talk about the pigment these colours give you are just WOW! One swipe on the hand for a test and the colour just pops! I loved the fact you get the colour but you can alter it to the tone that suits you, the more you blend the different the colour.

We spent ages in lush smelling and testing everything! I got to speak to the lovely lady doing the skin consultations about the condition of my skin and she recommended the best products for my skin type. She was kind enough to give us all little testers of all her recommendations! I can't wait to try these out as I'm new to the lush cosmetic side but have heard so many great things. We also got a goody bag from them with a colour from the wheel and Full of Grace Facial Serum, they also included the rose bath bomb to tie in with the theme.

I cannot thank Hatty enough for inviting me and all the other bloggers, especially Adrienne who put together the whole event for letting me tag along, with me being a very new blogger I really appreciate it. It was a great day filled with laughs and was lovely to meet all the other bloggers there :)

Mini Haul.

So I have recently brought a few bits and bobs over the weekend so I thought I would share them with you.

I needed an outfit to go to a summer wedding in June (ages away I no, but I love being organised) and have been searching everywhere for one that I felt comfortable in as well as giving me that extra stroke of confidence and then I found this,

As soon as I saw it I purchased it! I no you're not really suppose to wear white at weddings but I think the red roses and green leaf detailing will stand out focusing all attention there in stead of the dress colour.

Obviously, as a girl I needed shoes to match right? So I just HAD to buy these beauty's ---->

At a bargain price of £19.99 I couldn't resist! I think these look classy with the colour combination which will also be great for any outfit!

I then popped into boots as my mascara was starting to smell so needed a new one but found out it was 3 for 2 so 30 minutes later, this happened,

Happens to everyone right?

It's not as bad as I thought as all that only came to £26.96! Saving me a total of £10.68!  I purchased:

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (Honey)
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush (give me a cuddle)
Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam
Barry M Brow Kit
Barry M Natural Glow Shadow and Blush Palette
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer

Shoes was purchased from New Look, Buy here. (not exact as I can't seem to find them)
Dress was purchased from Miss Pap, Buy here.
Reviews on my new make up items will follow, read about the scandaleyes mascara on my previous post here.

Take Care xo
